Joanne D. Adams

Joanne D. Adams, 88, of Frewsburg, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at UPMC Hamot. She was the widow of Donald F. Adams whom she married May 20, 1961, and who died Sept. 20, 2024.

Joanne was born in Jamestown on Sept. 14, 1937, a daughter of the late Carl and Hilda Hanson Dahlberg, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1955.

She was a member of Kiantone Congregational Church and, with her late husband, owned and operated Hidden Valley Campground in Kiantone from 1972 to 1981.

Joanne was a devoted and talented quilter who created countless beautiful pieces throughout the years. She led quilting retreats at Camp Mission Meadows and Chautauqua Institution, and taught classes at the former Calico Cat in Lakewood. Many local quilters first learned to sew under her patient tutelage. She was a founding member of the Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild and also belonged to the former YWCA’s Quilters.

Surviving are three children: Marsha (Bill) Pownall and Gary Adams, both of Frewsburg, and Nancy (Matthew) Bush of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Rachel (Cody) Peace, Adam Cheney, Shelby (Bobby) Rauh, Garrett Adams, and Meredith Bush; and great-grandchildren Jasmine Peace, Alice Peace, Henry Cheney, Jolie Rauh, Robert Rauh III, and Jack Rauh.

Besides her husband Don, Joanne was preceded in death by two siblings, Bryan and Arlene Dahlberg.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service beginning at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Melvin McGinnis officiating. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date.
