Jewel Avery
Jewel (Patterson) Avery, 64, of Jamestown, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, April 25, 2026. She was born in Crestview, Florida, the middle child of nine children born to Peach (Lewis) Patterson and was a 1980 graduate of Crestview High School.
Jewel was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, always a ray of sunshine, a helping hand, a listening ear and so much more. She enjoyed writing, spending time with family, watching movies and being of service. Jewel was a dedicated member of the Blackwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Jamestown.
She leaves behind in life her husband of 18 years, Alvie Avery; her only child, Takeda Haynes and son-in-law, Brandon; four grandchildren, Kailah, Avry, Tehya and Teryn; and sisters, Gwen Gilmore, Sonya McQueen and Josephine Hutchinson. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Angunetta Patterson and Dorothy (Chuck) Wood; sisters at heart, Diane Reeves and Mildred Clark; brother, Dwight Marion; brothers-in-law, William (Sabrina) Avery, Adolph Avery and Reggie Settle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Jewel was preceded in death by her mother, Peach L. Patterson and father, Gerald Harrison; brothers Terry Patterson, Dwayne Marion and Raymond Patterson; and sister, Tabitha Marion.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm Monday, June 1st, 2026, at Blackwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 610 Spring St. in Jamestown. Share condolences at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
