Eunice E. Baldwin

1958-2026

Eunice Esther Shaw Baldwin, 85, of Mayville, NY and Ellenton, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Tidewell Hospice House in Lakewood Ranch, FL. She was born November 30, 1940, at the Chautauqua Institution, the daughter of the late Spencer L. and Edna Klinedinst Shaw.

Eunice was a 1958 graduate of Chautauqua Central School. She had worked as the Accounting and Front Desk Manager for the Atheneum Hotel at the Chautauqua Institution. In earlier years she was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing golf with her friends and family, and had several holes in one. Eunice also liked to play cards, go to the casinos, and was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Buffalo Bills. She also enjoyed reading and was very active in her book club.

Eunice is survived by her loving husband, Melvin H. Baldwin, whom she married July 6, 1979, three children, Christine (Bill) Peterson, Jeffrey Baldwin and Jennifer Majewski, all of Mayville, one daughter inlaw, Jeannie Wright of Westfield, six grandchildren, Adam Peterson, Derek (Kayla) Baldwin, Tabatha, James, Savanna, and Brittney Majewski, one great-grandson, Braeson, and two siblings, Gerald (Karen) Shaw of Port Charlotte, FL, and Linda Brownell of Bluffington, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Martin Wright, a sister, Mary Jo Albert, and a brother inlaw, Eric Brownell.

A celebration of Eunice’s life will be held from 10:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Chautauqua Golf Club Community Room.
