Doris L. Einfeldt

Doris L. Einfeldt

Doris L. Einfeldt, 82, of Salamanca, NY and formerly of Mayville, NY, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Salamanca Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Salamanca, NY, following a lengthy battle with dementia. She was born June 3, 1943, in Corry, PA, the daughter of the late Clifford L and Ruth King White.

Doris worked as a beautician for the majority of her career, co-owning Tresses Beauty Shop in Mayville, NY with her forever friend Vickie Fisher.

Doris enjoyed many activities. As a youth, she loved roller skating. Doris prioritized attending church as her faith was a core part of her life. She enjoyed cooking, however, she was not opposed to eating a hot fudge sundae for dinner if the opportunity arose. She loved going to thrift and antique stores, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, Doris loved to walk. Instead of rushing through her daily life, she chose the slower pace of the streets, finding that walking was as much about gathering stories as it was about staying active.

Doris was so loved that she commonly had a nickname from loving family members or people that she met including Dee Dee, Dee, or Dori and throughout childhood, Bucky from her overprotective brothers.

Doris was the rock of her family, a steady hand who turned their modest home into an abundance of warmth. She poured so much love into her home and family that they never felt like they lacked for anything. She was an amazing bright light, so full of joy and kindness.

Doris is survived by her son, Eric (Julie) Einfeldt of Ripley, NY, two grandchildren, Garrett (Kayla) Einfeldt of Harper’s Ferry, WV, and Danielle (Trent) Einfeldt of Mayville, NY, one great-grandchild, Jack Einfeldt (and another on the way), and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Einfeldt and five brothers.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St). The Rev. Jack Kraus, her brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour before the service (11AM to Noon), at the funeral home.
