Cindy L. Thompson

1954-2026

Cindy L. Thompson (Wilson) passed away in her home alongside loved ones on May 18th, 2026, in Jamestown, NY.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John E. R. Thompson Jr, her siblings Robert Wilson, Paul Wilson Jr, and Linda Wilson-Sheehan; her three children, Kylie Thompson-Yager, Natasha Thompson, and John E. R. Thompson III (JT). She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Victoria Yager, Jordan Thompson, Jameson Thompson, and her great grandson, Leon Zhang.

Cindy was born on February 21st, 1954, in Jamestown, NY where she met her husband John as kids. She spent many years as a strong military wife, taking care of her children while traveling around the world with her husband John, who served in the Navy. She was a no-nonsense woman and did not allow anyone to disrespect her children or family.

Cindy was a loving mother and grandmother, a very kind, funny, feisty, and generous person. She was a wonderful cook, an incredible baker, and talented artist. She spent her free time making beautiful rock paintings and quilts as gifts to her loved ones, cooking for everyone on holidays, and baking homemade cakes on birthdays. Of course, as a native of Jamestown, she was a fan of Lucille Ball. She loved her pets deeply over the course of her life, notably in her later years she adored her yorkies, Kobe and Bryant. Of course she loved sports, pretty much all of them, enjoying watching basketball, football, and NASCAR. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren, giving us all beautiful memories of her chasing after ice cream trucks, playing outside, making sure we always had our favorite freezie-pops, and always having cookies hidden in her apple-shaped cookie holder.

She is already missed very deeply by her family and those who know her, and she always will be. She was a very strong soul, and her family finds solace in knowing she was taken home to God and is no longer in any pain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alberta Wilson; Her nephews, David Sheehan Jr, and Wayne Wilson; her niece: Jennifer Sheehan and her friend, Colleen Hagstrom-McCray. We remember her as she always was; happy, sarcastic, funny, caring, and compassionate, and very beautiful.

There will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life will be done at a later time.

May she rest in peace and know she will be loved forever.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, 316 E. 5th Street, Jamestown, N.Y. 14701.
