Carol F. Hammond, 86, formerly of Bemus Point, N.Y. and Tanglewood Manor, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at The Rouse Home, Youngsville, PA.
Carol was born on September 8, 1939 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Donald and Florence Foster.
Carol graduated from Cassadaga High School. Following high school, her main priority was raising and caring for her family.
Carol was a former member of Bemus Point United Methodist Church in her younger years. She and her husband owned and operated Hammond Green House in Ellery Center for many years. Carol spent a lot of her time in the greenhouse. In the winter they would spend time in their winter home in Ocala, Florida.
Carol was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed watching Buffalo Sabres Hockey and NASCAR racing on Sundays.
Carol lived at Tanglewood Manor for about ten years. She enjoyed all the crafts and activities Tanglewood had to offer. Carol loved music and singing, she was part of a singing group while at Tanglewood. They would travel to other nursing homes and sing for them.
In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hammond whom she married on January 12, 1963 and who died on June 5, 2006; two sons, Mark Hammond and John Hammond; and a brother, Courtney Foster.
Carol is survived by a son: David (Dawn) Hammond of Sinclairville, N.Y.; granddaughter, Leanne (Chris) Carson of Sinclairville, N.Y.; and a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Carson of Sinclairville, N.Y.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 331 Alberta Drive, Ste. 106, Buffalo, NY 14226.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 5th at Bemus Point Cemetery at 10 AM.
