Virginia M. Birath
Virginia M. Birath, 83, of Jamestown NY, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 15, 1943, in Jamestown NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Carcione Lunetta.
Virginia was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she was a beautician and then worked in the family auto refinishing business D.R. Birath Enterprises. Later in life, she was a CNA, advancing to provide training for incoming staff and in-service education. She also trained and worked in phlebotomy and physical therapy for facility residents.
She enjoyed drawing and being out in nature, especially going to Barcelona to walk the beach. Virginia was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered for always lending a hearing ear and her quick wit. Virginia was a member of the West Jamestown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. One of her true joys in life was being able to speak with people about her faith.
She is survived by her son, David R. (Melissa) Birath Jr. of Jamestown NY; four grandchildren: Melanie (Brandon) Repp of Stow Ohio, Connor Kaminski of Kent Ohio, Rachael Birath and Alexis Birath of Falconer NY, and a great-grandchild Lucas Repp of Stow Ohio; a brother: John (Linda) Lunetta of Falconer NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to her caregivers Iris and Linda, as well as her Hospice care team: Julie, Laurie, Deanna, Michele, Rose, Krysta, Charsee and Sara. Their tireless efforts brought joy and comfort to Virginia, and her family could not have cared for her without their love and support.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David R. Birath Sr., a son: Lawrence “Larry” Birath, a sister, Joan Smith and a half-brother, LT. Bruce A. Rhinehart.
Her memorial service will be Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 4 pm in the Falconer Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm in the funeral home.
