Leonard J. Monroe, 57, of Little Bone Run, Kennedy, Town of Randolph, passed away on Good Friday, April 3, 2026 at home on Palliative care, after a sudden illness, with his wife, Sharon at his side.
He was born May 19, 1968 in Jamestown the son of the late George M. and Joan E. (Wright) Hale.
Leonard was a 1987 graduate of Randolph Central School and was currently employed by the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca. He had previously worked for Bush Industries in Jamestown and Fitzpatrick & Weller in Ellicottville.
He enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, listening to music, traveling, going out to dinner and spending time with her family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George on Aug. 1, 2010, mother, Joan on Dec. 31, 2025; a son, Ryan Stuart Monroe on July 30, 2022; maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Gertrude (Smith) Wright; and brother, Michael Monroe in 2006.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon E. (Jackson) Monroe; a son, Brock Monroe of Great Valley; step-children; Joshua and Ryan Stacey, Bethany Jackson; a brother, Leland (Kimberly) Monroe of Conewango Valley; and two step siblings, John (Laurel) Hale of Randolph and Michelle (Jeff) Plummer of Lyndonville, NY.
He is additionally survived by grandchildren; Matthew and Willow Stacey; Carter and Kylan Jacobson; Broderick, Conrad and Zayne Litchy.
As per Leonard’s wishes, there will be no visitation observed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY 14772. Burial/Inurnment will be in the East Randolph Cemetery.
