Kenneth J. “Pat” Corey, 83, of Bemus Point, NY, died in Erie, PA on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, due to complications from pneumonia.
He was born Dec. 1, 1942, in Meadville, PA, the son of the late Kenneth and Josephine (McPoland) Corey.
Pat was a 1960 graduate of Warren Area High School.
Immediately following high school he served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1963. He was assigned to fighter squadron VF-101 as a missile control radar technician and spent time in Key West, Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Prior to his retirement in 2009, he was employed by Cummins, Inc. as a Product Development Engineering Technician. In earlier years, he was a land lease agent for local oil and gas companies as well as a regional salesman for a sporting goods distributor.
Pat was well known in the local bluegrass music scene for over 50 years, especially as a member of the Wind River Bluegrass Band. In recent years, he looked forward to playing music with his friends and chatting with the audience each week at the Celoron American Legion Wednesday evening bluegrass sessions. Pat also enjoyed shooting trap, skeet and sporting clays with his friends. He was a member of numerous clubs and shooting teams over the years, including Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club, Celoron Rod and Gun Club, Jamestown Skeet Club, and Big Tree Sportsman’s Club.
Surviving are three children: Jean (Tim) Brown of Lakewood, Kenneth P. (Lisa) Corey of Jamestown, and Eric (Sara) Corey of Greenhurst; six grandchildren: Caitlin (Dylan) Moran, Jared Brown, Ryan Corey, Josephine Corey, Anna Prieto, and Evan Corey; and a great-grandchild: Eloise Moran. Also surviving are a sister, Margaret “Maggie” Hall and sister-in-law, Kathryn (Daniel) Moseler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Corey, whom he married July 15, 1967, in Bemus Point, NY and who died Sept. 27, 2019; and two brothers Clifford D. Corey and Dennis J. Corey.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
