Joyce A. Miller

Joyce was born to Harry and Gladys Peterson Mintzer on Nov. 25, 1929, in Warren General Hospital. She graduated from Warren Area High School in 1947, Joyce married William J. Miller in 1952, and they moved from Russell to Frewsburg in 1956. The couple purchased The Coconut Grove (Shorty’s) in 1973 and worked together to make it a great success. Joyce was a lifelong NY Yankees fan. She loved watching her children and grandchildren in any kind of sport they were involved in. She was a wonderful friend to others. She had a special heart for any kind of animal and took them all in (except snakes). She loved flowers and tending to her pool.

Joyce is survived by her sons Mark, David (Roxanne), Daughter Cathy (Paul) Eckman, five grandchildren, Lacey (Sean) Miller, Tyler (Lindy) Miller, Alex (Jenna), Sam (Tiffany) Miller, Jillian (Dylan) Mylacker and 10 great-grandchildren, Eden, Griffin, Harvey, Beck Sadie, Maeve, Sutton, Bodie, Brooklynn and Matthew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill (Millers’s Coconut Grove) in 2010, and her beloved son, Matthew Allen in 2012.

No funeral services will be held; the family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.

The Family would like to express their deep gratitude to Cris Gage and Darlene Scolton for their loving care for Joyce and to the Hospice nurses, doctors and social worker.

The family requests that all memorials and gifts be sent to Chautauqua County Hospice for ALL they do for their patients and families.
