Georgie Ann Kopta

Georgie Ann married her true love, Francis E. Kopta Sr on August 12, 1972. Together, they grew a family that will keep Georgie Ann surviving through them, along with her husband that includes a daughter, Lisa (Michael) Schmitz, two sons, Francis (Beth) Kopta Jr., and Alvin (Kathy) Kopta. She was the best nanny to nine grandchildren, Steven (Kerri) Keith, Virginia (Donny) Schmitz, Jeffery (Jordan) Keith, John Michael Schmitz, Kyle (Alexis) Keith, Cassie (Colton) Kopta, Shelby (Zach) Sands, Darren (Tabitha Griffin) Kopta, and Matthew Schmitz, Great Nanny to 13 great- grandchildren, three sisters, five brothers, multiple brother/sister in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

Georgie Ann enjoyed a lot of things, but riding horses, ATV, side by sides were some of her favorites. In the last few years, her and her husband loved riding their scooters with the “Scooter Gang” they belonged to, with just the day before her passing her and the gang did a 60 mile scooter ride and enjoyed the day.

Georgie Ann left us far too soon and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. You rest easy now, Nanny. We will take it from here.

The family will receive friends for calling hours from 11 AM to 2 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, 139 S Erie St. A celebration of life will follow at 3 PM at the Sherman Fire Department Reception Hall, also on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Freay Funeral Home to offset final expenses.
