Georgia A. Lampropolos

Georgia A. Lampropolos of Lakewood, NY, died on Good Friday April 3, 2026, three days after celebrating her 86th birthday.

Born on March 31, 1940, in Greensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Constance Polis Lampropolos.

Growing up in Johnstown, PA, Georgia graduated from Johnstown Senior high School in 1957 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana State Teachers College in 1961.

From there she moved to the Washington, DC area where she was employed by Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland as a business teacher where she taught typing and shorthand for 19 years.

Georgia met Samuel R. Wilhelm through one of the first computer dating service of that time. They were married August 16, 1980, and lived in Germantown, MD, before retiring and moving to Lakewood in the late 1980s. For many years she and Sam delivered the Post Journal to people in and around Jamestown.

Surviving is her dear sister, Elaine Lampropolos, with whom she made her home; stepson, Rick Wilhelm of Kingston, NH; two stepdaughters, Ginger (Bill) Dawley of San Antonio, Texas and Jennifer Wilhelm of Poolesville, MD; as well as her beloved one-eyed cat, Rosie.

Besides her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Wilhelm in 1999; two stepdaughters, Beth Wilhelm in 2013 and Susan Wilhelm in 2023; as well as her beloved sister, Stephanie Lampropolos, in 2024.

No formal funeral service or visitation will be observed at this time.
