Ernest O. Kinney
Ernest O. Kinney, 68, of South Dayton, passed away, Sunday, April 19, 2026 at UPMC Chautauqua after an extended illness.
He was born May 23, 1957 in Westfield, the son of the late Orr O.Kinney and Leah (Maher) Kinney.
He attended Randolph Central School. After school Ernest started working in the woods, he eventually became a self-employed logger and was affiliated with Ellington Hardwords.
Ernest loved the outdoors, dogs and all animals in general. He enjoyed competing in the Ellington Town Picnic log sawing contest every year.
He is survived by his sister; Ann (Rich) Stakelum of Kennedy, companion and good friend; Leona Colvenbach of South Dayton; and nephews; Glenn Watson of Missouri, Logan Stakelum of Waxhaw, NC and Tyler Stakelum of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by parents, Orr and Leah, his step-mother, Doris Kinney, and sister, Sarah Kinney.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10-12 AM Saturday, April 25, 2026 from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY 14772, with the funeral service to follow immediately in the funeral home. Rev. Mike Herdzik will officiate.
Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery.
