Donald J. Breemes

Donald J. Breemes “Don” ,61, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Atrium CMC Main in Charlotte after a heroic cancer battle.

He was born July 31, 1964, in Aberdeen, MD, the son of Barbara A. Brown, the late James Breemes, and the late stepfather Clayton Brown. A proud Veteran of the United States Army, he attended Pine Valley Central School and a graduate of Erie County Technical School with a degree in Architectural Design.

In addition to the Army, Don had multiple career paths which included a Glass Fabricator, Welder/Fabricator, Ship Welder, Weld Inspector, and over 30 years as an Architectural Designer. For the last 10 years, Don was part of the Zapata Group, Inc. family where his attention to detail excelled focusing on projects for the Department of Defense.

Don enjoyed working in the yard, welding and fabricating in his garage, socializing with friends and family, being a long-time member of the American Legion and Loyal Order of the Moose, and driving his most prized possession, a 1978 Trans Am.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie S. (Myers) Breemes, with whom he married in 1988 and shared many laughs and adventures with since meeting in 1985; his mother, Barbara A. Brown of Randolph, NY; his stepsister, Jackie Guardiola of Lytle. Texas; and many others that he held close to his heart.

Don was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clayton Brown, father, James Breemes, his grandparents, Merle and Bertha Easterly, his mother in-law, Sally A. Myers, his father-in law, Howard “Buzz” Myers, and sister-in-law, Stephanie Myers; in addition to several family members and friends that impacted his life.

On Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:30 pm, the family invites relatives and friends to a grave side service at the Rutledge Rural Cemetery, Conewango, NY. Military honors will be conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post 181.

In South Carolina, the family invites you to celebrate Don on May 16, 2026, from 2:30-5pm at the American Legion Post 43 in Fort Mill, SC.
