Bruce R. Smith

A Jamestown native, he was born July 15, 1938, the son of the late Richard H. and Margaret Persons Smith and was a graduate of Jamestown High School where he was a member of Braw Caddie Clan.

Bruce served in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962 and was baptized in the Latter-day Saints Church in 1972.

A career electrician, Bruce started Nephi Electric in 1972 and stepped down as President in 2021 when he sold the business to his son, Brandon Smith.

He enjoyed hunting, as well as racing cars at Stateline Speedway.

Surviving is his wife, Gail Mitchell Smith whom he married Sept. 15, 1979; children, Tim Smith, Brenda VanSickle, Brandon (Terra) Smith and Heather Felton, all of Jamestown, Debbie Dickinson of California, and Vanesa (Phil) DeSantis of Lakewood; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and sisters, Rhonda (Dr. John) LaMancuso of Bemus Point and Donna (Herb) Sample of Jamestown.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by stepmother, Maxine Smith and stepfather, Paul Pearson; stepbrothers, John and Fred Pearson; and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 10 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 851 Forest Ave. in Jamestown. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Share your condolences at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
