Alys M. Cowles

1927-2026

Alys M. Cowles, 98, of Salamanca, and formerly of Buffalo, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Salamanca, NY. She was born Aug. 22, 1927, in the Town of North Harmony, NY, the daughter of the late Archie and Lucille Davis Cowles.

Alys had earned a Bachelor’s in Education from Geneseo College and worked as a school Librarian in the Buffalo Area Schools. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles and the company of her dogs.

Alys is survived by two cousins, Maxine Davis of Mayville, NY and Nancy Card of Sherman, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ross Cowles.

A private graveside service will be held in the Chautauqua Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
