Torry J. Knight

Torry J. Knight, 59, of Jamestown, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born on Feb. 27, 1967, in Jamestown, New York, to Della Hough and James Knight. At a young age, Torry was lovingly raised by William Avery, whom he respectfully and affectionately called “Dad.”

Torry was educated in the Jamestown Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Jamestown High School, Class of 1985. He continued his education at Jamestown Community College.

Torry was known for his big heart and his deep love for family and close friends. He was an avid sports fan, passionately supporting both the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers. He also enjoyed cooking, singing, animals, nature, and spending time outdoors. Torry was a skilled handyman and took pride in his unique ability to fix almost anything. Torry will be deeply missed by all who have the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He is survived by his three children: Carin Knight and Alyssa Knight, both of Jamestown, New York, and Vanessa Knight Bellman of Ohio; and his four beloved grandsons, whom he cherished dearly: Kenton Knight, Niko Knight, Luca Knight, and Kenyan Knight-Payne, all of Jamestown, New York. He is also survived by his loving mother, Della Hough of Jamestown, New York; his father, James Knight of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two brothers, Travis Knight (Kim) and Shawn Avery (Jennifer), both of Jamestown, New York; three sisters, Tammy Knight-Crough (Jason) of Jamestown, New York, Shannon Avery of Marietta, Georgia and Tara Avery of Lakewood, New York; in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to his father figure, William Avery, Torry was preceded in death by his sister, Audra Avery-Crenshaw, and his grandparents, Ressie Blakeney Hough, Katie Mildred Cunningham, and Cletus and Versye Knight.

Arrangements are entrusted to Riccardi Hubert Funeral Home, 111 South Main St., Jamestown, New York. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday March 18th, from 11 am to 1 PM, with funeral services to immediately follow the visitation. Elder Shawn Avery of the East Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate the service. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown, New York.

A repast is scheduled from 3 to 8 pm at The Hampton Inn and Suites, 4 West Oak Hill Road, Jamestown, New York.
