Joseph R. “Bob” Lapp
Joseph R. “Bob” Lapp, 94 entered heaven on March 22, 2026. He was a resident of The Villages, Florida. Bob was born in Batavia, NY and raised in Leroy NY. He excelled in both baseball and football and actually drew the interest of the NY Giants in his junior year but continued his education. In January 1951, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the US Navy. His first duty station was aboard the Carrier, U.S.S Philippine Sea 47 during the years 1953 and 54 touring Ports of Call in the Pacific Ocean. After his discharge, Bob married Delores (Costa) in 1957 and loved her wonderful Italian cooking. He built their family home in Leroy.
Bob had a varied career in industrial manufacturing and sales in Leroy and Jamestown NY. Bob spent time playing baseball with the Jamestown Oldtimers. He retired to Jupiter, Florida and enjoyed golfing, friends and family. Bob was an avid Dodgers and Bills fan.
He is survived by a brother, Michael (Kathy), two daughters, Susan Woodfield (Woody) and Judy Dahlgren (Cris), and a son, Joseph Jr. (Andrea), eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations can be made in Bob’s name to Hospice.
