Joseph J. Rickards
Joseph John Rickards, Jr., 85, of Jamestown, died Sunday March 15, 2026, in his home.
A native of Albany, NY, he was born Aug. 3, 1940, a son of the late Joseph and Helen Schwalbe Rickards.
Joe was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving from 1960-61.
Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Dodson’s Jewelers.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and also attended First Lutheran Church. His other memberships include Mt. Moriah Lodge #145 and Kiwanis Club of Jamestown.
Surviving is his wife, Marie Ball Hill Rickards, whom he married May 17, 2025; stepchildren, Kelly Hill of Jamestown and Daniel (Joan) Hill of Sebastian, Florida; grandchildren, Robert Henke of Jamestown, Derek (Lauren) Hill of Ocala, Florida and Taylor (Thomas) D’Angelo of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Madelynn Thorn, Lila Williams, Titus and Cyrus Hill and Thomas and Anthony D’Angelo; and his furry companion, his dog, Jake.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Rickards.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Thursday in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.
