Gary R. Lynn

Gary R. Lynn, 76, of Frewsburg, died Wednesday March 25, 2026, in his home, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born in Detroit, MI, on July 29, 1949, a son of the late Robert and Alicia Jean Lutz Lynn. As a child, the family moved to Frewsburg, where he graduated from Frewsburg Central School and JCC.

Gary was a self-employed entrepreneur who successfully owned and operated several ventures in this community including Allied Fire Protection Systems, Inc. (1974) which grew to one of the largest fire protection companies in NYS, Allied Alarm Systems, Inc. (1984), revitalizing Frewsburg’s local hardware store “Moore’s Hardware” (1990), Community (Lynn ) Development Association (1998), Cass Creek Game Calls, and Community Heaping Hands, which filled his heart by being able to give back to the community and those in need. Gary supported local and international ministries, including schools in Russia, Jamaica, and Israel. He also loved helping and mentoring others with their business ventures.

He was a man of strong faith and was a member of Praise Fellowship, Russell, PA. He was also a member of the Christian Bowhunters and a retired member of Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669. Throughout the years he volunteered for several organizations, including 12 years on the Family Life Network board of directors. Gary was awarded the “Leader of the Year” award by Chautauqua Leadership network in 2014.

Surviving are four children: Christopher (Lisa Mendell) Lynn of Frewsburg, Scott (Shannon) Lynn of Frewsburg, Jason (Billie) Lynn of Falconer and Tiffany (Jeremy Burghardt) Lynn of Metamora, Ohio; stepchildren, Keenan Chadwick of Rochester, NY, Kaija (Andy Wood) Chadwick of Frewsburg and Kira (Jordan) Spencer of Warren, PA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; eight step-grandchildren; two brothers Doug (Nancy) Lynn of Flowery Branch, GA and Chuck (Terri) Lynn of Bemus Point; brothers-in-law Don Messenger and Jack Clucas both of Kings Mountain, NC; the mother of his children Linda Larson Lynn and his former wife Helen King Lynn.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dawn Dorman Lynn, who died May 12, 2025, and three sisters, Diane (Bob) Filegar, Sandra Messenger and Jeanie Clucas.

A memorial service will be held at 5 pm Saturday April 18, 2026, in the Lind Funeral Home.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 pm April 18th and from 4-5 pm just prior to the service in the funeral home.
