Brenda Kay Whitney

Brenda Kay Whitney (Stingel), 67, passed away unexpectedly in her home Feb. 26, 2026, in Jamestown , New York. Born, March 8, 1958, in Jamestown, NY. She attended Panama Central Schools and worked at Metal Tech and Bush Industries for many years.

Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Marlissa Whitney of Dunkirk, NY; Seanna Howie; and Cynthia (CJ) Howie of Jamestown, NY. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Michealla Buck; Reiden and Alanah Ferraro; Trinity Salter; Rowan Luce; and Lee Whitney, as well as her beloved great-granddaughter, Ava Papa Serge. Brenda also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her siblings: sisters, Darlene (Robert) Carswell of Fort Myers, Florida, and Pamela (Marc) Palmeri; brothers, Harry “Butch” (Amy) Marsh of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Charles Stingel Jr. of Jamestown, NY. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Jean (Johnson) Kelley and Charles Stingel Sr.; stepfather, Robert “Bruce” Kelley; brothers, Bryon, Bruce, and Robert Stingel; sons, Michael Stingel and Kenneth Whitney; daughter, Leanne Stingel; and grandsons, Ruger Whitney, Aneyeus Howie, and Avrik Buchanan.

Brenda had an undeniable zest for life that shone through in everything she did. A proud Steelers fan to the core, she could often be found cheering on her favorite team with enthusiasm. She loved playing games of all kinds–Bingo, board games, cards, dice games, online games–and enjoyed puzzles like word searches and crosswords. There wasn’t a game she didn’t enjoy or master with her sharp mind and competitive spirit. Known for her outgoing personality and warm heart, Brenda had a gift for conversation that made everyone feel welcome. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support to anyone in need–whether it was through kind words or even the shirt off her back. Her friendly nature left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Brenda’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her legacy of kindness and joy bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. Go Steelers!!

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM at Hotel Jamestown Crystal Ballroom 110 W 3rd St.
