Rue R. Schultz

Rue R. Schultz

Rue R. Schultz passed away after a brief illness on Feb. 22, 2026, in Mease Countryside Hospital near Clearwater, Florida. He would have celebrated his 92nd birthday in two weeks.

Mr. Schultz resided in Frewsburg, NY after living his first 85 plus years in Falconer. He was the husband of Shirley Covedill, who passed away in 2009 after 59 loving years of marriage. He is survived by two sons, Scott (Patty Abadessa) of Villanova, PA and Rob (Diane Parlegreco) of the Villages of Florida; six grandsons; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Besides his parents (Harold and Elga), he was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Terry Schultz (Brenda Benson), who passed away in 2014.

Rue enjoyed a long career in the food and grocery business. Over the years, he worked as a buyer, sales representative and manager for SM Flickinger Company, Sysco, and US Food. Prior to that, Rue owned and operated the Kennedy Meat Market in Kennedy, NY where he was known for his friendly greetings, long hours, and commitment to customers. Rue also served as a Trustee for the Village of Falconer for eight years.

Rue was a talented handyman, carpenter, and outdoorsman who was as comfortable in his workshop creating beautiful cabinets as he was in the seat of a bulldozer clearing his land. There was nothing he wouldn’t try or couldn’t conquer.

Rue enjoyed traveling and spending time with his special friend, Torie Swanson, which included cross-country train rides and winters in Florida.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for family and friends in the Spring.
