Lorraine Y. Johnson
Lorraine Y. Johnson, 88 of Ashville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, in UPMC Chautauqua.
A native of Warren, PA, she was born June 27,1937, the daughter of Peter J. and June V. Monstrom Rock. She was a 1955 graduate of Warren Area High School.
Lorraine was employed by Quality Markets on Third Street as a cashier for many years. She was head cook at Glidden Avenue School as well as food service at Fenner Elementary School Falconer, Jamestown General Hospital and as a clerk at Jones Tasty Baking in the Third Street Plaza.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church; and for many years, it’s choir and the quilters group. She was also ‘Worthy Matron’ of the order of the Eastern Star within the Masons, and very active in the Kharramettes, a lady’s auxiliary of the Kharram Grotto both local chapters of Jamestown, NY.
Meme, as her family affectionately called her; loved to cook, play cards and to travel. She especially loved being with family and friends. For many years she traveled with her beloved husband Kermit back and forth to Florida every winter as snowbirds. Other favorite places were to Minnesota to visit close friends. One of her biggest joys was traveling to Sweden with her husband and sister-in-law to visit their relatives but delightfully found relatives on her own branches of a family tree. Many family memories were also made with trips to the beach in Delaware and spending time at Hidden Valley campground Jamestown, NY, where they had a trailer for many years. She found beauty in everyday living and her love of God. She was a very loving, caring and supportive soul who was always attentive to the needs of her family, friends and anyone that she would meet.
Surviving are two daughters, Wendy Johnson of Ashville and Cindy (John) Palmer of Lakewood; four grandchildren, Tristan Kum of Ashville, Kassandra (Taylor) Rondenell of Jamestown, David Kum of Jamestown and Morgan Palmer of Lakewood; cousin, Donna Rock of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Barr of Waynesboro, PA; and Lisa Kane of Waynesboro, PA; grandniece, Emily Kane and grandnephew, Jack Kane, both of Waynesboro, PA; as well as many other cousins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 57 years, Kermit C. Johnson, whom she married June 25, 1955, and who died Dec. 1, 2012.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family and visitation at this time will not be observed.
