Joshua Marvin Zook

Marvin was born in Mifflin County, Pa. On March 8, 1935. He attended Bellville Mennonite High School graduating in 1953. After Graduation he joined the 1-Wservice working at Norristown State Hospital, Norristown, PA for two years.

After his 1-W service he worked as a farmhand on various farms before buying his own farm in Dewittville, NY in February 1966. While living on the farm, he was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years. His desire for teaching led to 22 years of creating cassette teaching tapes which he sent to churches in Eastern Africa.

After leaving the farm in 1977, he continued his teaching and worked at various jobs and for a time ran Lakewinds Upholstery shop in Portland, NY. He also lived in Hartfield and Westfield, NY before moving to Assisted Living at Magnolia Rest Home in Frewsburg, NY. After suffering a minor stroke in late December 2024, he was confined to Absolute Care in Westfield NY. Shortly before his passing he transferred to Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation, Dunkirk NY. where he passed on home.

He is survived by three of his siblings, two brothers, Omar (Janice) Zook, Byron (Zelda) Zook, and a sister, Carol (Zook) Miller. His children, Jeffery Zook, Rita (Fred) Himes, Keith (Julie) Zook, and Galen Zook; including extended family of 10

grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Margret Zook and Barbara Zook; and three other siblings, brothers Mark and Dale Zook and sister Dorcus (Zook) Musser; and grandson, Tyler Janes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at and announced at a later date more convenient to travel and weather.
