Ethel Mae (Coon) Bush
Ethel Mae (Coon) Bush, 96, a resident of Falconer, New York for the past seven years, previously of Hudson, Ohio, and Tonawanda, New York, died Jan. 30, 2026. Ethel was born in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of the late Lester and Ellen Coon of Kenmore, New York.
She is survived by her brother, Donald (Lynda) Coon.
Ethel graduated from Buffalo General Hospital in 1948 as a RN and worked in the ER. She married Robert G. Bush of Lockport in 1952 and later became a stay-at-home mom.
Ethel is survived by her children, Robeth (Joseph) Hamm, Mark (Gayle) Bush, Warren (Amy) Bush and Carol (Mark) Tisdale. Her son, Wayne Bush (predeceased) was married to Joann. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also is survived by nieces and a nephew.
Ethel enjoyed reading and knitting for soldiers and babies. She loved square dancing and bowling. She was a volunteer at her church, a nursing home, and her children’s school. She was kind, generous and loving, and enjoyed the competition of games and cards. Her ultimate act of generosity was donating her body to the University of Buffalo for educational purposes.
A memorial service will be held at Levant Wesleyan Church, 1670 Linquist Drive, Falconer, New York, at 11 am on Thursday, February 5.
