Donald A. Minton, 95, of Washington Street, Randolph, Formerly of Hamburg and East Aurora, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2026 at UPMC- Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown.
A lifelong area resident of Western New York, Mr. Minton was born Nov. 24, 1930 in Wales Center, NY the son of the late Charles S. and Marian H. (Guard) Minton.
He was a graduate of East Aurora High School class of 1949 where he played football and was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Corporal during the Korean War Era, where he was a guided Missile guidance components repairman. Mr. Minton worked earlier on for Westinghouse and started in 1954 for New York State Electric & Gas as a lineman and retired in 1990.
Don was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Randolph. He enjoyed collecting antiques and toy collectibles, especially Fisher Price Toys. He was a talented Antique Clock Repairman. In his younger days, Don was an avid bowler.
aDon is additionally survived by, four grandchildren: Amy Rose Bierley and husband Ryan of Rochester; Scott Abla and wife Jenny of NC; Joseph Minton of Austin, Texas; Hope (Jeramy) Cobo of Randolph, great grand-daughter, Ava Milan Bierley; and nieces, Heather Barton Villagrana and husband Marco and Kate Barton Mitchell and husband Jason and a former daughter In Law, Karen Skinner, two nieces; Lisa (Chris) Minton White, Trish (Dale) Hoffman; and a nephew; Dale Minton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marian, his wife, Dianne Mary (Foss) Minton whom he married on Oct. 1, 1955 and who preceded him on Jan. 8, 2019, a daughter; Jill Minton Abla on Oct. 2, 2021, a grandson, Jonathan Abla, Aug. 3, 2016 and a brother, Warren Minton.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 12-2 PM, Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026 in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, from where services will follow at 2 PM, along with Military Honors. The Rev. W. Mike Trenchard will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Randolph.
