Debra A. Tomassini

Debra A. Tomassini, 69, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born in Jamestown on Jan. 21, 1957, to Harold Barber and the late Jean Lutgen Barber.

Debbie was first and foremost a wife and mom, always prioritizing family. Her family described her as calm, steady and patient with all whom she encountered. She always listened and was someone you could talk to about anything, she never judged.

A 1975 graduate of Maple Grove High School, Debbie earned her fine arts degree from JCC. She was an avid artist and educator, working as a substitute teacher with the Jamestown Public Schools, and in multiple roles at the James Prendergast Library.

Growing up on a hobby farm, Debbie became an accomplished equestrian, adoring and healing animals of all kinds. She was even known to shoe her own horses. Her adoration for the outdoors extended to plants and trees; truly, she could make anything grow.

Debbie could often be found working alongside her husband, Ed. She was a skilled camera operator and took pride in their ability to work together so collaboratively.

Debbie’s calm, patient demeanor and warmth will be forever cherished by her husband, Ed, whom she married July 20, 1980; her children, Katherine (Austin Seastrum) Tomassini of Jamestown, Aaron (Ashley) Tomassini of Rochester, and Lane (Hayden McAfee) Tomassini of Burlington, VT; her grandson, Graham, and a second grandchild expected this Spring; her siblings, Jim (Cris) Barber, Wayne Barber, Helen Barber, and Mark (Julie) Barber; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 2-5 pm Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at Lind Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 at Lind’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or to Chautauqua County Humane Society 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
