Charlene B. (Brown) Lopus

Charlene B. (Brown) Lopus, 77, formerly of Spencer Road., Kiantone, passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1948 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Phillip and Bernice Wares Brown.

She was the salutatorian of the class of 1966 at Frewsburg High School.

Charlene was a life time member of the Kiantone Congregational Church.

She was a bookkeeper for several local businesses and an income tax preparer for many members of the community. She also was a hard-working farmer her entire life on the Brown family farm, which had been in the family since 1827.

She was a proud bookkeeper and member of Teamsters Local 649 & 264. Having a love of music, she was a member of Chautauqua Shores Sweet Adelines Chorus. She enjoyed playing the organ. She loved playing the accordion, especially during many camping trips and hayrides, leaving many great family memories.

Charlene is survived by a sister, Phyllis Wilson and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, including Phillip R. (Lisa) Wilson, Constance L. Renzi, and Jennifer Schrader, all of Frewsburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Lopus, who passed away on Sept. 6, 2025; her best friend, Anna Mae Cobb; and her beloved dog, “Blue”.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 in Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Rev. Mel McGinnis will officiate. Burial will be Allen Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday in the funeral home.
