William R. Farr

William R. Farr, 94, of Falconer passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at Heritage Park and Skilled Nursing.

An area resident most of his life, he was born Feb. 15, 1931 in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada, the son of the late Jake and Mary Prokopchuk Farr and grew up in Warren PA.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served proudly during the Korean War. For most of his life he was employed by S.M. Flickingers and Sysco Foods. Prior to retirement he was employed by CARTS.

Bill was particularly fond of fishing with his family on Chautauqua Lake and watching the wildlife in the outlet area. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. Bill had a connection with wild animals and had several pet racoons and squirrels. He was a former member of the Lakewood American Legion and Falconer Fire Department.

Surviving is his wife, JoAnn V. Sorensen Farr, whom he married Jan. 1, 1953 in the Falconer United Methodist Church; three children: William (Deedee) Farr of Jamestown, Virginia (Randy) Oakes of Kennedy, Richard (Cheryl) Farr of Gerry; three grandchildren: Michelle (Eli) Vallejo, Kathy Farr (David Hovey), Nolan (Kate) Farr; and five great-grandchildren: Sofia, Hannah and Joshua Vallejo; Noah and Ezekiel Farr.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Farr.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026 at 3 p.m. in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 1011 W. Third St., Jamestown, NY.

Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 3 p.m. and the celebration of life will start at 3 Sunday in the church.
