Rev. Dr. William North Jackson

Rev. Dr. William North Jackson, 91, of Valencia, died on Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, 2026 in the comfort of his home with family by his side.

Born in Grove City, PA on June 10, 1934, he was the son of the late J.Y. and Mary North Jackson.

Bill graduated from Plum High School, Westminster College (PA), and Pittsburgh and Princeton Theological Seminaries. He served as an assistant minister at Abington Presbyterian Church in Abington, PA, interim college chaplain at Westminster College (PA), senior minister at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boardman, Ohio, Christ United Presbyterian Church in Canton, Ohio and First Presbyterian Church in Flint, Michigan. He served as interim pastor at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Church of Sewickley (PA), Cranberry Community Presbyterian Church, Highland Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, PA, Mars United Presbyterian Church, the Hill United Presbyterian Church, Glade Run Presbyterian Church and filled pulpits in several area churches as needed. He served as the director of the Chautauqua Institution Department of Religion in the summer of 1984-1989 and sang in the Chautauqua Choir for several years before his death.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Vail Watson Jackson, who he married on May 20, 1961, his daughter, Anne Sleggs (Mark), his son, Jim Jackson (Stephanie), his grandchildren, Daniel Jackson (Meghan), Sam Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Elizabeth Marshaus and Mary Vail Marshaus, great grandfather of Lainy Rose Jackson, brother of Charles G. Jackson and four nephews and three nieces.

A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster College in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Bill and in honor of his grandchildren, donations may be made to Westminster College, Grove City College, or to the Chautauqua Institution-William. N.
