SHERMAN- James C. Farnham, 69, of Sherman, NY, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, following a recent battle with cancer and lengthy battle with MS. He was born Feb. 4, 1956, in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Leroy Farnham and Mildred Busch.
Jim was a 1975 graduate of Sherman Central School. He had worked for Mogen David in Westfield, NY prior to retirement.
He was a member of the Westfield Moose, the Olive Lodge #575 F. & A.M. in Sherman, and the Westfield Fish and Game Club. Jim always enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to be in the outdoors while hunting deer, turkey, waterfowl, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, and he played many sports in his youth. No matter what hand he was dealt, Jim always had a positive outlook and made the best of life.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Crawford Farnham, whom he married on July 31, 1982. Two sons James (Katie) Farnham of Corry, PA and Jesse (Cara) Farnham of Sherman, NY. Five grandchildren Landen, Keegan, Rilee of Corry, PA, Conor and Zoey of Sherman, NY. His step-parents Wade and Trudy Gollnitz, two sisters Roxanne (Brian) Helman and Darlene (Gerald) Lee, three step-sisters Roxanne (John) Buxton, Shelly (Carl) Gray and Cathy Cettell, several nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, goddaughter Corinne Falkey, and Kelly and Carol Brown, his chosen family.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his uncle Jim Busch.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 PM on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at the Lake Chautauqua VFW in Mayville (10 Memorial Drive).
