Howard R. Murray, Jr., 95, of Shasta Drive in Jamestown, formerly of Celoron, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born in Jamestown on Feb. 5, 1930 and was a son of the late Howard R. and Dorothy Snyder Murray.
A truck driver for 43 years, Howard had been employed by Sternberger, Penn Empire and for 17 years by Bennie M. Anderson Trucking in Jamestown. Following retirement, he enjoyed working on projects in his home.
Surviving are two sons: Gale A. (Debbie) Murray of Jamestown and Dennis S. (Dana Yarber) Murray of Lakewood; three grandchildren: Leigh Anna (Richard) Cepedas of Austin, Texas, Shannon R. (Todd) O’Connor of Lockport, NY, and Kristina Petritsh of Sacramento, CA; four great grandchildren: Alyssa and Lauren Cepedas, and Brooke and Morgan O’Connor; and a brother, Bryan Murray of Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Carlson Murray, whom he married Jan. 20, 1951 in Ss Peter & Paul Church, and who died Feb. 1, 2010.
