Betty Jane Valentine-Crooks
Betty Jane Valentine-Crooks, 90 passed away on Sunday January 18, 2026, at Heritage Park Health Care Center with her loving nephew Tom by her side. She was born on March 6, 1935, in Irvona PA to Allen and Josephine Tubbs Hockenberry.
Betty graduated from Irvona High School and went on to have a career in banking at Wells Fargo and H&R Block.
Although Betty had no children of her own, Betty’s life was deeply enriched by her family.
She is survived by her devoted nephew, Thomas (Susan) Truax and her devoted great niece, Michelle (gene) Swan. Betty also leaves behind her brother, Robert (Linda) Hockenberry and numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, she was grateful to her friend Chuck, for his friendship in her final years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Josephine Tubbs Hockenberry, her husband, Donald R Valentine, her siblings, Arthur (Beverly) Hockenberry and Imogene (Lloyd) Truax, her niece, Patricia Truax Spitale and the love of her life, husband, George Crooks.
Betty was an active member at New Creation Assembly of God Church in Jamestown, participating in weekly Bible study and volunteering during summer Bible School. She enjoyed traveling, car rides and going out to eat, her favorite being The Cracker Barrel.
