Thelma J. Milton

Thelma J. Milton, 105, of Heritage Village and Jamestown, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Dec. 10, 2025. She was born June 27, 1920, in Monday, Ohio, to Jacob Johnson and Effie Locke Johnson. She graduated from Logan High School and moved to Jamestown from Mansfield, Ohio in 1942.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, whom she married in 1949 at the First Methodist Church. After his death, she was able to spend many years at home, mostly on her own. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary L. (John) Poshka from Westfield, NY as well as several brothers and sisters.

She was an employee of Crawford Furniture in Jamestown, a teacher’s aide for many years in Jamestown Public Schools, retiring in 1985, and an Election Inspector.

She was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church, Norden Women’s Club, Fenton History Center, and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.

She was also a member of the Transplants Garden Club who picked out and planted trees around Jamestown for many years.

She is survived by a son, Thomas (Jill) Milton of Cuba NY and granddaughters, Elizabeth Milton of Denver, CO, and Sheeanna Milton of Cuba, NY.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at Christ Chapel, Christ First United Methodist Church. Rev. Sherry Mahar and Rev. Douglas Knopp will officiate. Family and friends will be received following the service in the church hall.
