Ruth S. Lindblad
Ruth S. Lindblad, 99, formerly of 28 Valleyview Ave., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of George H. Lindblad whom she married July 26, 1958 and who died Jan. 27, 2014.
Ruth was born June 21, 1926 in LaGrange, NY, a daughter of the late Clark and Gladys Andrews Safford. Following her one room schoolhouse early education, she graduated from the Perry, NY High School as valedictorian. Ruth then earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo in 1948 as one of their first female pharmaceutical graduates.
Ruth’s pharmaceutical career began with Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, followed by a retail pharmacy in Niagara Falls, and then the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw, NY. She then began a lengthy, successful career with Smith, Kline & French Laboratories in Philadelphia as a manufacturing pharmacist in Formula Administration.
Following retirement, she and George would spend 20 years in Sun City, AZ where, as a docent, Ruth enjoyed conducting museum tours. For over 50 years she and George also combined her poetic ability with his artistic talent to create special, personalized Christmas cards which reflected her Christian faith.
Surviving are nieces and nephews: Carol Ellis, James (Marti) Seely and Kathryn (John) O’Hagan of Jamestown, Ron (Lisa) Safford of Isle of Palms, SC, Linda (Joel) Brunswick of Middletown, CT, Clark Safford of Newnan, GA, Laurie (Mike) Yingling of Glastonbury, CT, Amy (John) Noble of Durham, CT, and Jennifer (Mac) McNelly of Tolland, CT; many great nieces and nephews, including Valeri Seely Tingue of Jamestown; and one great-great nephew.
Along with her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a sister, J. Ina (Graydon) Seely; a brother, Fred (Ardie) Safford; and a nephew, David Seely.
A private family service will be held led by Rev. Douglas Knopp, and visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
