Milford E. “Stub” Porter

Milford E. “Stub” Porter, 91, of Jamestown, died Sunday Dec. 14, 2025, in UPMC Chautauqua after a brief illness, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born March 24, 1934, the son of the late Ernest and Lucille Bitely Porter.

Stub was a 1952 graduate of Jamestown High School.

Before retiring, he dedicated many years to the Board of Public Utilities at the Carlson Generating Plant, beginning as a janitor and rising through the ranks to become a Control Room Operator.

He was a longtime member of the Vikings and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.

In his younger days, Stub spent his weekends dirt track racing at Stateline Speedway. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and restoring his 51 Ford. Stub was famously known for enjoying his PBRs – skal!

Surviving is his wife Juanita “Toots” Porter, whom he married July 15, 1971; four daughters Sandra (Van) Ecklund of Jamestown, Jody Caldwell of Falconer, Jodi (Rich) Swindell of Jamestown and Michelle Tambascio of Jamestown; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Isley and two sisters Lois Scott and Barbara Porter.

Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Per Stub’s wishes, no funeral service will be observed.

A private burial will be in Wild Rose Cemetery, Ashville, NY.
