Melvin D. Conklin

He was born April 11, 1939, in Gowanda, NY to his late parents Durward and Julia (McNamara) Conklin.

Mel graduated as Valedictorian from Pine Valley Central Schools and then went to college for a year studying Architecture. He went on to join the carpenters union, eventually working for Larry Olsen, LG Hall Construction as president, then starting his own business as a Job site Inspector.

He enjoyed wood working reading, nature, bird watching and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Melvin leaves behind his devoted children: Steve (Jonica) Conklin, Michael Conklin, and Becky (Tim) Poulsen. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Dana, Tyler (Rachel), Eric (Alexandria), Kelly (Matthew), Christopher, Daniel, Mary Elizabeth, Alix, Katie (Tristan), and Ian, and his great-grandchildren: Harlee, Mckenzie, Zackry, Lindee, Colt, Gracin, Corrine, Cooper, Zariah, Henry and Liam and more on the way. His brother Clyde (late Margie), also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Kay

Relatives and friends may visit DiStasio Funeral Home478 Route 83 at Balcom Corners South Dayton, NY Tuesday Dec. 30, 2025, from 3PM to 4PM where a funeral service will immediately follow.

Interment will be in Villenova Cemetery
