Leroy “Roy” Pihl
Leroy “Roy” Pihl, 94, formerly of 11 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
A Jamestown native, he was born March 25, 1931, a son of the late Carl and Alice Revelj Pihl, and graduated with the class of 1949 from Jamestown High School. Roy then served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.
Roy was a member of the Jamestown Police Department before working for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., retiring as a sales representative. His memberships included the American Legion, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and the Vikings Lodge.
Roy was very proud of his Swedish heritage, loved to fish on Chautauqua Lake, enjoyed hunting, and was famous in the family for his special chicken barbecue. In earlier years, he built model airplanes and flew them at the Jamestown Airport.
Surviving is his daughter, Roxanne (Stephen) Kenner of Glendale, AZ; stepdaughter, Jill Wightman of Wellington, FL and stepsons, Jace Wightman of S. Dayton, NY and Jaime Wightman of Endicott, NY; granddaughter, Krystal Spencer of Phoenix, AZ and grandsons, Corry Palmisano of North Carolina, Ryan Palmisano of Oregon and Tyler Swanson of Busti; step grandsons, William Wightman and Evan Wightman of S. Dayton; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane (Al) Johnston of Michigan; as well as several nieces and nephews including Eileen Martin of Mayville, NY.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Ahrens Pihl; second wife, Faith Eckert Pihl in 2009; daughter, Cheryl Palmisano in 2001; and a brother, William Pihl and sister, Dorothy Sturgeon.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5thin the Lind Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron Lemon offering closing thoughts and prayer at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to a Veteran’s organization of one’s choice.
