John W. Thomas, Sr.

He was born Nov. 15, 1933, in Clearfield, PA, a son of the late Cyrill and Jeanette Lobb Thomas.

He was a graduate of Brisbon High School where he excelled in football.

He was a graduate of Brisbon/Houtzdale High School where he excelled in football.

A veteran of the US Air Force, he served from 1955-61.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the US Postal Service as postmaster in Stow, NY. He earlier worked in the Jamestown Post Office.

A man of many talents he enjoyed photography, fishing and woodworking. He fashioned several canes and walking sticks throughout the years.

Surviving are two daughters, Tracy Ann Thomas and Brenda Lee Lang(Thomas) both of Jamestown; two grandsons, Charles M. Lawson III and Ryan C. Lawson and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Rose Eade Thomas, whom he married November 19, 1955, and who died Oct. 15, 2006; a son, John W. Thomas, Jr., Jan. 28, 2020; two grandsons, Joshua D. Thomas and Andrew J. Thomas and brothers, Warren Lee Thomas and Calvin Gene Thomas.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
