Jody Henry

Born on Nov. 17, 1958, in Jamestown, NY, Jody was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Root. She was a graduate of Southwestern Central School, Class of 1976.

Jody married Ricky Henry, the love of her life, on March 17, 1990. They shared many cherished years together until his passing in 2023.

Jody was a talented artist and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and music. She was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs and cats.

Jody retired from the Gustavus Adolphus Learning Center after 25 years of dedicated service, working as a teacher’s aide and long-term substitute.

Jody is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Henry and her fiance, Brendon Boardman of Panama. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Tallulah Boardman, and a new grandson, Rockwell Boardman, who is due to arrive in April. She is further survived by her brother, Jerry Root and sister-in-law, Ava Turnquist, of Panama, and a sister-in-law, Renae Henry, of South Carolina.

Jody also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Emily Munoz of Florida; Chet Root of Jamestown; Carly Bucktooth of Salamanca; Andrew Young of Buffalo; Amanda Hecht of Texas; Aaron Young of Rochester; Sav Wright-Lessard of Illinois; Tracy Boyer-Henry of Jamestown; Lisa Kujawa of Falconer; and Kaela Reynolds of Mayville, as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Root; her husband, Ricky Henry; her sister, Julie Young and brother-in-law, Mark Young.

Jody will be remembered for her sense of humor, her creativity and her love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
