Donald L. “DT” Thomas

Donald L. “DT” Thomas, 79, of Kennedy, formerly of Jamestown passed away Wednesday (November 26, 2025) in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo.

He was born October 18, 1946, in Corry, PA, the son of the late Melvin and Dorothy Jones Thomas.

DT was a 1966 graduate of Corry High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps proudly serving during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Jamestown Community College for 44 years.

DT was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the performing arts and was a member of the Uncommoners Productions at the Scharmann Theatre at JCC. He performed and was involved in several musicals. DT was also a member of the JCC Choir and enjoyed listening to a variety of music. He also enjoyed attending Broadway musicals, traveling, playing scratch offs, the Florida Gators, playing the part of Santa at parties and community events, coffee at Tim Hortons, meals at Phil & Cindys, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving is his two daughters: Michelle Hines (Ned Dean) and Stacy Rupczyk (Jason); his cherished grandchildren: Erika Hines, Kaitlyn Hines, Zane Rupczyk, Willow Rose Rupczyk; cherished great grandchildren: Emma Salvaggio, Kohen Sample; a brother Charles Thomas; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own children.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Deborah L. Thomas whom he married June 19, 1999, who died March 22, 2022; his brothers: Melvin and Richard Thomas.

Donald spent his final years being cared for by his family as he battled dementia. His family takes comfort in remembering his laughter, his jokes, his music, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His legacy will live on in every story told, every memory cherished, and every heart he touched.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Susan Hadley will officiate.

Friends will be received by the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
