Dennis L. Bennett

Dennis L. Bennett, 83, of Jamestown, NY passed away at home on Nov. 30, 2025 due to natural causes. He was born in Warren, PA to the late LeRoy and Doris Bennett on Jan. 14, 1942.

Dennis graduated from Warren High School and went onto working in many different fields, including as an orderly at Warren State hospital where he thought about a career as a registered nurse. For many years, he was a picker/forklift operator for Flickengers. He was an avid coin collector and had a great assortment of different coins he had collected over the years, he enjoyed watching Bills games but, most of all he was an honest, loving and caring man.

Dennis is survived by his four children: Michelle Axelson of Jamestown; Rhonda(Norman) Swan of Gerry; Steven (Becky) Bennett of Lakewood; Mary Jane (Rodney) Anderson of Jamestown; a sister, Geraldine Slocum of Warren PA; his grandchildren: Justin Axelson, Christopher Axelson, both of Jamestown; Rachelle (Anthony) Iriwn of Tonowanda; Amanda Swan Rice of Buffalo; Jessica(Danny) Heitzenrater of Frewsburg; Matthew Swan of Burlington NC; Zackaree Bennett and his partner, Livie of Colorado; Ashlee Bennett of Alabama; Seth Lee Bennett of Lakewood; Jenna Anderson and her partner, Brandon of Jamestown; Julia(Brandon) Heitzenrater of Gerry; Jarod Anderson and his partner, (Olivia) of Falconer; and his great- grandchildren, Joseph and James Irwin and Olive and Elle Heitzenrater.

Dennis loved and cared deeply for his neighbor Meagan, she lived just downstairs from him and over the last four years she took great care of Dennis. Meagan was like another grandchild to Dennis and she ever referred to him as her “Grumpy Grandpa”, whom she loved dearly.

Dennis is preceded in death by a longtime companion, Janet Bennink; his three brothers, William Baker, Rodney and Les Bennett; a sister, Mary Jane Swanson; and one great-grandchild, Elliott Heitzenrater.

No services will be held at the funeral home; a graveside service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Chautauqua Humane Society in Dennis’s name.
