Cynthia A. Hummel

Cynthia “Cindi” Ann Hummel went to be with her Lord and the loved ones waiting for her on Dec. 6, 2025.

Cynthia Was born Jan. 10, 1952, to Fannie W. and William J. Donovan in Franklin, PA who both preceded her in death.

She graduated from Franklin High School in 1969 and still enjoys many of the friendships from those years.

After high school, she attended Clarion University where she graduated in 1973 with a B.S. degree in education. During high school years and summers she worked at Polk State School where she explored and nurtured her love for teaching and working with students with disabilities. Following that calling she began her teaching career at South Street School in Warren, PA working for the Intermediate Unit that educates students with all types of disabilities. She loved her work, her students and her co-workers. Those special friendships and relationships have continued since she retired in 2008 after 35 years of dedicated service to her students and the I.U.

While in Warren, she met the love of her life and her future husband, David A. Hummel. They were married at Olmstead Manor on May 24, 1980, by David’s father Arthur. Cindi and David grew their family when Rebecca Renee (Becca) came into their lives on May 5, 1991, thanks to the help of the Women’s Care Center in Erie, PA. Becca was officially adopted on Dec. 5, 1990, and this special day was ALWAYS celebrated by the Hummels and extended family as “Family Day”.

Becca’s growth and interests became family activities. While Becca trained at the Jamestown Skating Club, Cindi sewed and repaired costumes, helped with makeup and business issues of the club and became part of a wonderful community of parents, skaters and teachers. She and Dave were always a huge part of the skating shows and the planning and executing of numerous competitions held in Jamestown. They also traveled all over with their skating family to competitions and got to see many different clubs, venues and parts of the country.

Becca auditioned for and was accepted into Disney on Ice after her high school graduation. Cindi and Dave followed her all over the world as Becca became a professional and introduced them into yet another close family. They were especially happy to take Cindi’s mom Fannie to California to have Christmas with Becca and explore Los Angeles.

Cindi and Dave enjoyed traveling, especially to Lake Placid, helping Becca grow and as amazing caregivers for their parents. They fully supported the Women’s Care Center in their mission of adoptions as backers and participants in their numerous events. They were also members of the First Assembly of God Church of Warren and enjoyed being part of that church community and helping in its many ministries. In 2024, Cindi went with church members on a week-long mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

Cindi was also a Creative Memories representative and helped so many preserve their memories as she created scrapbook after scrapbook of the many joys in her life. She was also the go to seamstress for so many.

By far the biggest joy of Cindi’s life were her granddaughters Rylee, 9 and Baylee 4. Whether it was babysitting, overnights, rides to activities or events or being a proud grandma at their events she was their biggest fan and proudest of their accomplishments. Most recently she enjoyed family visits with Karen and Jeff in Florida.

Cindi lost Dave in 2023 after a long struggle with cancer. She never wavered from supporting, nursing and doing whatever was needed to keep Dave moving forward in his fight. She is also predeceased by her parents and in laws.

Surviving family members include Becca, her husband, Dan Bevevino and beloved granddaughters, Rylee and Baylee. Her sister, Karen and her husband, Jeff Corigliano. Sister-in-law, Dee and husband, Dave Chase and brother-in-law, William Hummel and his wife, Pam. These are a small few of so many who will grieve her sudden loss but we are confident she is where she is happiest and healthiest.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. Services will be held at the First Assembly of God, 1111 Madison Ave., Warren PA on Thursday Dec. 11. Calling hours will be 3:30-5:30 pm with a memorial service to follow. There will also be a dinner following the services thanks to the wonderful community of the church.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Women’s Care Center of Erie County, 4408 Peach St., Suite 202, Erie PA 16509 or the First Assembly of God Church in Warren.
