Amelia M. “Babe” Pollino

Amelia M. “Babe” Pollino, 89, of Jamestown, died Wednesday Dec. 24, 2025, in UPMC Chautauqua.

A native of East Rutherford, NJ, she was born Aug. 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Anthony Eulo and Mildred (Millie) Gentile Eulo Battaglia.

In 1954 Babe and her parents moved to Jamestown and went to Jamestown High School, where, as a senior, she met the love of her life, Dick Pollino. They married Sept. 26, 1959, and soon after started their family.

Following graduation from high school she received her beautician’s certification from Doyle’s Beauty School, Buffalo.

Her career as a hairdresser began in the beauty shop at Bigelow’s Department Store working for Mr. Raffa. In 1964 she took her skills to Dorian’s and worked for Sam Palladino, spending over 50 years there as a stylist.

She was a communicant of St. John Catholic Church.

She volunteered with Doris Palladino, the head of Easter Seal organization, for many years raising money for children with disabilities.

Babe was a very sociable person who had innumerable friends, but more than anything she loved and was adored by her family. She spent a lot of time with her dearest friends, Debbie Gullo, Lorenza Everson and Diane Soldano, whom she loved deeply and considered her family. Besides her family and friends, her greatest passion was baking. She baked cookies for weddings, holidays and other events. She was known for her cookies, and everyone loved them. In addition, she also loved to shop. In her younger days at holiday times, she and her friends Debbie and Doris would shop until they dropped. Babe also loved traveling to visit her family and friends as they all looked forward to those visits. She enjoyed going to see Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons when they played in Buffalo. Babe was always full of life and laughter. She will be missed by many. To know Babe was to love Babe. Now she is reunited with her husband, Dick, whom she has loved and missed for many years.

Surviving are three children Toni Ann Pollino (Joseph) Miraglia, Joze Ann Pollino and Richard Pollino, all of Jamestown; two grandchildren Richard Ryan Kenneth Pollino (Abby Goldstein) of Erie, PA and Alexis Faith Pollino of Las Vegas, NV, as well as her dog Doll-e.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Pollino, who died Jan. 20, 2002, and her stepfather Anthony Battaglia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday in St. John Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
