Roland Murville Swanson

Roland Murville Swanson, 76, of Brockport, NY passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2025.

Roland was born May 22, 1949, in Jamestown, NY to M. Roland and Dona Swanson, where he graduated in 1968 from Panama Central School. Roland was a devoted husband of Diane, his loving partner and steadfast companion through 48 years of marriage and every season of life. Together they raised two sons, Michael (Amanda) and Jeffrey (Sarah), who carry forward his values of integrity, perseverance, and sharp-witted humor. He was a loving grandfather to Isaac, Hannah (Matthew), and Gabriel, each of whom brought him profound joy.

He is survived by his brothers, Rodney and Raymond, and his sisters, Linda, Elizabeth Bowerman, Lauren Norris, and LuAnn, all of whom shared a lifelong bond rooted in family, resilience, and love.

Roland had a mind for solving problems and hands that could fix nearly anything, he spent his career as a hydraulic mechanic for Kodak, where his dedication, craftsmanship, and relentless work ethic earned the respect of all who knew him.

Roland had a knack for wordplay and puns, always ready to lighten a moment with his signature sarcasm. He loved learning new skills, building, fixing, and creating–never content to leave a challenge unsolved. His passion for golf brought him peace, competition, and camaraderie, and he cherished every opportunity to be on the course.

Above all, Roland was a man of steadfast loyalty and unwavering personal standards. He chose his friends thoughtfully, stood by those he loved, and lived each day committed to doing things the right way.

His presence will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain with his family and friends forever. A “Celebration of Life” will be announced at the convenience of the family and communicated at that time.
