Robert B. Volk, 92, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at his home in Jamestown.
He was born May 28, 1933, in Blawnox, PA, the son of the late Michael and Alma Byrne Volk, and was a 1951 graduate of Carrolltown High School in Cambria County, PA, where he was raised.
Bob’s employment through the years included work as a bricklayer at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, PA; as a die maker at Proto Tool and later at Crescent Tool in Jamestown; as an insurance agent for Harvest Insurance in Pennsylvania; and, lastly, as the owner of Bob’s Vintage Wines & Liquors in Lakewood.
Always outgoing, Bob enjoyed talking to everyone as though he had never met a stranger. He and his wife, Sylvia, traveled extensively, taking many vacations to Europe, Asia, South America, and the Caribbean. Bob greatly valued spending time with his family, especially during a lively game of cards.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Williams Volk, whom he married May 24, 1952; their children: Cindy Pearson, Connie (James) Glace, and Roger (Christine) Volk, all of Jamestown, and Robert (Marcela) Volk of Chambersburg, PA; thirteen grandchildren: Nicole (Brian) Talley, Alec (Laura) Pearson, Brittney (Jonathan) Sholar, Adam Volk, Aaron (Shari) Volk, Cassandra Glace, Kheland Volk, Alexandra Volk, Broque Volk, Shana Durfey, Joshua Volk, Olivia Volk, and Carter Volk; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Russell (Barbara) Volk; his sister, Patricia Horner; his daughter-in-law, Janice Volk; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Volk, in 1986; a son, Lynn Volk, in 2014; and a brother, Dennis Volk, in 2020.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Lind Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Lakewood. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
