Marvel C. Wiltsie

Marvel C. Wiltsie, 95, of Corry, PA, formerly of Russell, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 in Corry Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1930 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late C. Alfred and Fannie Walker Cheney.

Marvel attended Ivory School for six years prior to her family moving to the Clymer area where she graduated from Clymer Central School in 1947.

In years past, she was a Den Mother and taught released time bible education. She was a member of Lander United Methodist Church and a life member of the Lander Fireman’s Auxiliary where she served as secretary for thirteen years.

She had been employed at Pleasant Valley Industries, Peek’n Peak Resort, Cutting Lanes, and was a dedicated homemaker and farmer’s wife for many years.

Marvel loved God, her family, friends, and home. She found joy in the wild birds and her flowers. She liked to sew, knit, tat, crochet, paint, and read. She loved flowers, friends, and her birds which some ate from her hand.

She is survived by her children: Daniel (Maggie) Bemis, Darlene Pitchford, Ann Lanzel, John (Phyllis) Wiltsie; daughter-in-law Leah Wiltsie; grandchildren: Hyla Brinkley, Patrick Bemis, Danielle (Jeffrey) Audet, Sarah Mead, Aaron (Ashley) Lanzel, Cynthia (Jason) Erwin, William “Erick” (Whitney) Wiltsie, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson, Jessica (Cory) Brownlee, Darren (Lindsey) Pitchford, Serina (Alex) Burch, Kassandra Pitchford; great-grandchildren: Katie Brinkley, Jack Brinkley, Andrew Mead, Connor Erwin, Josie Bemis, Charlotte Bemis, Vivian Audet, Victor Audet, Colin Erwin, Eleanour Wiltsie, Marian Wiltsie, Alethia Lanzel, Arden Lanzel, Anna Rose Lanzel, Beau Burch, Finley Burch, three Johnson and seven Brownlee great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Wiltsie and Bee Wiltsie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Wiltsie, Jr., who passed away on April 24, 2013; a son, Paul Wiltsie; three brothers: Carl, John, and David Cheney; and three sisters: Hazel Harrington, Norma Anderson, and Marge Kowalski.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hale Cemetery, Akeley, PA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
