Darlene Jean (Carman) Stahlman
Darlene Jean (Carman) Stahlman
Darlene Jean (Carman) Stahlman, 71, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus Thursday November 20, 2025, at home surrounded by her family after enduring pancreatic cancer.
She was born September 26, 1954, in Jamestown, a daughter of Jean (Houghwot) Green and William Carman.
She attended many different schools growing up, graduating from Jamestown High School in1972. She went on to attend one year at Liberty University looking for, as she said, her “Mrs. degree.”
After marrying her husband Tom, they moved to Colorado Springs, CO, to serve as missionaries at Navigator Headquarters for 2 years. Darlene worked as a data processor and Tom as a cook. Darlene sacrificed her career to raise her children and take care of her husband and home. She was always willing to help in the hard times with many odd jobs, mostly secretarial. Darlene and her husband founded and operated Homestead Apartments and Real Estates Services for over 40 years. Darlene managed all the secretarial duties efficiently.
She was a member of Fluvanna Community Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school leader, working funeral dinners and serving wherever she was needed.
Her legacy will not be measured by the world’s view of success, but by always putting God first, placing others before herself, respecting and honoring her husband, and quietly caring so admirably for her children and grandchildren.
She also was a crafter, enjoying making beautiful cards for everyone. Praying for the recipient as she made each one.
Surviving is her husband, Thomas Stahlman of Jamestown; two sons, Jeremiah (Meggan) Stahlman of Falconer and Joshua Stahlman of Jamestown; a brother, James Durlin of Jamestown; and five grandsons, Landon, Aiden, Weston, Hudson and Jamison.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and two brothers, Leroy (Leonna) Houghwot and Roger (Ruth) Vinton and an unnamed infant.
The funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Avenue, with a luncheon directly following.
Burial will be in Allen Cemetery at 3 pm Saturday. All are welcome to attend both luncheon and committal.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials be made to Fluvanna Community Church Memorial Fund.
Friends will be received from 4-6 pm Friday at the Lind Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at Fluvanna Community Church.
