Daniel A. Maring
Daniel A. Maring
Daniel Arthur Maring (Papa), age 75, of Charlottesville Virginia, formerly of Kennedy, NY, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 14, 2025 in his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1950 in Westfield, NY to Ellsworth & Delvina Maring. Dan was married on July 14, 1973 to Josephine with a reception following in his father’s hay field in Sherman, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dan was a hardworking farmer, then truck driver, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was economical with his words, but quick witted and observant, and his powerful laugh was appreciated by friends and family. He was a man of quiet strength–a calm voice of reason and the steady center of his family. He was kind and always willing to lend a hand, pushing a broken down car, putting in hay, or playing with the kids at a family reunion. Dan was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills, and could often be found listening to a game from underneath a jacked up car.
Dan is survived by his wife, Josephine Maring; two sons and a daughter, Joshua Maring (Charlene) of Brookville, PA; Clayton Maring (Doralba) of San Salvador, El Salvador; Jamie Maring Hedman (Benjamin) of Charlottesville, VA; six grandchildren, Joshua Maring (Sabrina), Danielle Maring Baksa (Jeremiah), Jack Hedman, Jude Hedman (Eleanor), Maria Cuesta, Yandel Maring; a sister, Louise Soeder of Chautauqua, NY and a brother, Randy Maring of Bear Lake, PA; as well as a growing number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Loved ones will gather for visitation at 1 pm, Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Hill and Wood Greene Chapel in Ruckersville, VA with a service following at 2 pm. Daniel will be laid to rest at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Earlysville, VA.
