Charles Ralph Alger, 86, resident of the Tanglewood Manner in Jamestown, New York passed way Nov. 25, 2025. Charles was born on Aug. 11, 1939, the third child of the late Clarence Duane Alger, Sr. and the late Ruby Allene Swanson Alger, Aug. 11, 1939 in Jamestown General Hospital, Jamestown, New York. He is buried by the Powers, Present and Sixbey Funeral home, next to his mother, in the Falling Leaf section, Grave 8, Lot 5 of the Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown, New York.
Charles was preceded in death by both parents as well as oldest brother, Clarence Duane Alger, Jr and youngest brother, Edward William Alger and older sister, Eleanor Dorothy Alger (Thor) younger sisters, Ruby Allene Alger and Albert Ruth Alger Fuller.
Charles is survived by a sister; Nancy Marie Alger Carlson of Erie, Pennsylvania and a brother Richard Walter Alger of Palm Bay, Florida, as well as 37 nieces and nephews, 89 Grand nieces and nephews, 82 Great Grand nieces and nephews and one Great-Great Grandniece.
Charles attended Jamestown schools and eventually Panama Central School up through the ninth grade. Charles was an avid family researcher which resulted in publishing a book of the Alger Family Tree. He continued the family tree research for many years, traveling around the east coast looking for documentation related to ancestors with his brother.
Charles was a confirmed bachelor. He enjoyed gardening throughout his life. He was active for many years starting with haying, then kept a number of bee hives to sell the honey, planted a substantial sized blue berry garden which then he sold the blue berries, built several greenhouses where he raised a wide variety of plants from the simple species to the most difficult century cactus. Charles spent his latter years in Jamestown, giving up the family homestead of 53 years.
There will be no formal service.
